SHILLONG, Oct 28: The nominations of all six candidates contesting the Gambegre by-election were found to be valid during the scrutiny process on Tuesday, with officials from the Election Department confirming no rejections.
The candidates in the fray for the upcoming Gambegre by-election include NPP’s Mehtab Chandee, AITC’s Sadhiarani Sangma, INC’s Jingjang Marak and BJP’s Bernard Marak, along with two independent candidates, Sengkrabirth Marak and Jetty Sangma.
The seat became vacant following Tura MP Saleng Sangma’s resignation as MLA after his landslide victory in the Lok Sabha election for Tura parliamentary constituency.
