SHILLONG, Oct 29: A total of 207 appointment letters were distributed at the Rozgar Mela held in Shillong on Tuesday as part of a national initiative where over 51,000 letters were distributed across India.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textile, Pabitra Margherita, who distributed the appointment letters, celebrated the day as a “milestone of hope and opportunity” for youth from the Northeast, with aspirants from Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam gathering for the event. The MoS, in his address, urged the young recruits to serve with integrity, calling them “ambassadors of the nation’s vision.”
Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Rozgar Mela via videoconference, congratulating the appointees and highlighting this Diwali as special due to Lord Shri Ram’s recent placement in the Ayodhya temple after centuries. The Prime Minister stressed on government initiatives like Rozgar Mela, which aim to create employment by bolstering infrastructure and industrial growth across India.
Speaking to the press, Margherita praised the large turnout, noting the youth’s enthusiasm and commitment to their new roles. He commended their dedication, urging them to contribute actively to India’s growth journey.
Margherita hails India’s friendly int’l relations
The Union MoS, Pabitra Margherita, stated that India maintains cordial relations with neighboring nations, highlighting strong trade, bilateral, and people-to-people ties.
“We have always upheld friendly relations with our neighbouring countries, and these bonds grow deeper each day,” Margherita told reporters.
Margherita also expressed confidence in India’s relations with its friendly neighbours, dismissing any doubts regarding these ties.
He noted that India’s guiding principle has long been Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family.
When asked about the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Margherita clarified, “It’s an international matter, and the Ministry spokesperson has already issued a statement on it.”
Recently, PM Modi met President Xi during the BRICS summit in Russia, where both leaders agreed to enhance communication and cooperation to address conflicts and improve bilateral relations, which have been strained since a deadly military clash in 2020. The meeting marked their first formal talks in five years, signaling a potential improvement in relations between the two nations.
