SHILLONG, Oct 29: The High Court of Meghalaya has highlighted key areas requiring attention to improve the infrastructure of Jowai Bypass. This was done through three comprehensive reports, the latest of which was filed on October 28; all presented by Amicus Curiae, P Yobin.
The bench consisting Chief Justice IP Mukerji and Justice W Diengdoh was hearing a PIL on the construction of the Jowai Bypass.
Representing the state, Additional Advocate General K Khan requested additional time to prepare an affidavit in response to these findings. The court has granted the state until November 19 to submit this affidavit.
In recognition of Amicus Curiae’s extensive work and related costs, the court directed the state to grant an ad hoc remuneration of Rs 75,000 to him. The state has been instructed to expedite all necessary formalities to ensure prompt payment. The court will reconvene on November 19 for further proceedings on the matter.
