Ahead of All Souls Day, STP announces traffic regulations

SHILLONG, Oct 31: In view of All Souls Day on November 2, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has announced specific traffic regulations to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles around the Laitumkhrah Graveyard.
Effective from 1:00 PM until the end of the day, all members of the public are advised not to park their vehicles in the Laitumkhrah area from 10:00 AM onward.
According to a statement, parking restrictions will be enforced along the roadside from Laitumkhrah Point to Goraline and from Women’s College to the Lower New Colony Parking lot.
Meanwhile, no entry has been imposed at Laitumkhrah point towards Goraline junction and at DHS junction towards Goraline junction. “Vehicles will be diverted towards 7th Day Junction-Nongrim Hills,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, locals have been exempted from the aforesaid curb.
Similarly, no entry has been decaled on the route from MES junction towards Goraline junction. “Vehicles will be diverted towards Nongrim Hills / DAD Junction,” the statement said.
It was also informed that no Entry has been declared at DAD junction towards MES-Nongrim Hills and vehicles will be diverted towards Nongmensong.
However, despite the restrictions, emergency service vehicles will be permitted to operate and will receive necessary facilitation during this period.
