SHILLONG, Nov 11: An inaugural function for the five-day National Young Professional Development Programme on ‘New Competencies, Career Opportunities and Research Priorities in Agricultural Extension’ was held at the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGS-AS), Umiam, on Monday.
At the outset, Professor of School of Social Sciences, L Devarani, welcomed the 53 participants from across the country. The various activities conducted by MANAGE and CPGS-AS were showcased through a video during the event. The chief guest, Dr Saravanan Raj, Director (Agricultural Extension) MANAGE, Hyderabad, delivered the presidential address.
He emphasised the efforts of the MANAGE-University Alliance for Advancing Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services, in collaboration with other partners, who have been dedicatedly organising a series of capacity-building programmes since 2018, which focus on advanced extension research methodologies, emerging research priorities, new competencies, career opportunities, and evening-for-learning (e4l) webinars in Agricultural Extension.
Prof Noren Singh, Dean In-Charge, urged the participants to utilise the opportunity to acquire new competencies, explore career opportunities, and gain insights into the latest research priorities in agricultural extension.
