Shillong Déjà vu hits Bhoirymbong
How long does it take to cover 500 meters? Ten minutes? Twenty? An hour? Two? In Shillong, it’s anyone’s guess, especially when festival fever grips the city.
The Cherry Blossom Festival at Bhoirymbong brought its usual charm, but also the inevitable traffic chaos. Thousands of vehicles crawled at a snail’s pace, turning a quick drive into an endurance test. Add intoxicated drivers to the mix, and dangerous driving into it, and it just makes driving worse.
While festivals are meant to bring joy, irresponsible drinking continues to be a spoiler. As much as we love the bloom of cherry blossoms, maybe it’s time to nip some bad habits in the bud.

A star-studded affair
Shillong is shining brighter than ever, and beyond the Cherry Blossoms lighting up the scene, its also The the music legends and global icons, making it feel like the ‘Concert Capital’ of the country.
Boney M, then Akon, the Cherry Blossom Festival has set a high bar for musical extravaganzas. But hold on, it doesn’t end here, now Nick Carter, the heartthrob from the Backstreet Boys, and rock legend Bryan Adams are next in line to grace the stage in Shillong.
The excitement in the air is palpable, with fans already speculating about what might come next.
If this star-studded streak continues, Shillong might just rewrite its identity, not only as the “Scotland of the East” but also as the stage for global music royalty.

Ward’s Lake continues to be the top destination for tourists eager to witness the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. Visitors were seen patiently waiting in long queues to enter the iconic lake, which remains a
favourite spot for experiencing the beauty of Shillong’s celebrated Cherry Blossom season.
