District council elections
Central Election Committee on Friday released the second list of party candidates for the upcoming district council elections scheduled on February 24.
The party released the names of nine candidates (eight from KHADC and one from JHADC) in the second list for both KHADC and JHADC which include sitting MDCs LG Nongsiej- KP Pangngiang from Nongstoin and Rambrai-Jyrgnam, Khraw Pyrkhat Marwein (Mawhati), Marcus Lyngdoh (Umsning), Nolipstar Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat), Fenela L Nonglait (Pariong-Mawthadraishan), Councellor S Wahlang (Mairang) and Morningstar Mawsor (Mawshynrut).
The only candidate name from JHADC in the second list is Constantine Langstang from Raliang.
Party spokesperson G Nonglong said that so far 18 candidates from KHADC and 5 from JHADC declared including women candidates.
With many applicants wanting to get a ticket from HSPDP in the remaining constituencies, Nonglong said that they have decided to analyze the candidates properly before releasing the names of the candidates in the final list.
“HSPDP is not a “dustbin party” to accept anyone whoever wishes to contest the election,” Nonglong said.
He informed that the final list of the remaining constituencies to the KHADC and JHADC will be declared on February 1.
