State Police introduces people contact prog

Shillong: In an attempt to instil confidence in the public the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, is introducing “People contact program and public grievances reddressal” at the Police Station-level in Shillong city.

This programme is aimed at creating an environment in the Police Stations where the public can directly interact with Senior police officers detailed from the Police Head Quarters, Shillong.

Initially this programme will be introduced in seven police stations of Shillong city. Three ADG rank officers, three of the IGP rank and one DIG rank officer are detailed by the Director General of Police for this programme.

One officer from each of the ranks would be available to the public from 10.am to 12pm on 25-01-2014 at the Sadar Police Station, Laitumkhrah Police Station, Madanrting Police Station; Rynjah Police Station; Laban Police Station; Mawlai Police Station and Lumdiengjri Police Station.

The DGP PJP Hanaman has asked the public to visit the police stations on the said date and time and bring their grievances to the notice of the Senior police officers present at the venue for redressal of grievances.

The public are also urged to bring to the notice of these senior police officers their observations regarding police performance on various issues such as crime prevention, crime detection, traffic control and management, police behaviour towards the public, and any issues that may improve police service delivery to the public.

This programme is intended to gather feedback directly from the stakeholders (public) on the delivery of police services .
