Assembly committee reviews ongoing projects in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, Nov 28: Aiming to ensure transparency and accountability in developmental activities and to identify areas requiring further attention for the district’s growth, members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, led by its Chairman, Charles Pyngrope, visited Ri-Bhoi, an Aspirational District, to review developmental initiatives and ongoing projects in the district, along with conducting site inspections, on Thursday.
A review meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Nongpoh, chaired by Pyngrope. The meeting was attended by committee members including MLAs Lahkmen Rymbui, Ardent M Basaiawmoit, Gavin M Mylliem and Rupert Momin, besides Legal Advisers Nihim D Shira and HM Shangpliang. Also present were Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhilash Baranwal, besides Additional DCs, Assistant Commissioners, and district heads from various departments.
During the meeting, officers from different departments presented detailed updates on the progress of various developmental projects and schemes, covering key sectors such as health and nutrition, agriculture and horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary services, skill development, and C&RD Blocks. These projects are being implemented under both centrally and state-sponsored schemes. The committee also reviewed the status of the Civil Sub-Division at Patharkhmah.
Before the review meeting, the committee conducted a site inspection of the Modern and Hygienic Fish Market at Saiden village, a key infrastructure project in Ri-Bhoi.
