SHILLONG, Dec 2: Shillong is gearing up for the much-anticipated Bryan Adams concert, scheduled to take place on December 10, at the JN Stadium in Polo. In view of this, the Office of the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, has issued a detailed plan for traffic regulations and parking arrangements on the concert day to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
No entry zones have been designated at Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction and Forest Colony; Lawmali Junction towards Polo Market; Golf Links Tri-Junction towards Polo; and additional restrictions at CM’s Bungalow Junction, BK Bajoria Junction.
Vehicles approaching Polo will be diverted towards Lawmali, Lumjingshai, Mawroh, Oakland Road, and other alternate routes.
Parking on roadsides between Golf Club and CRPF Junction is prohibited. Designated parking areas include SRGT Parking Lot (on a first-come, first-served basis) and one-side parking at Golf Links and Tiara Restaurant Junction areas. Locations like MEPDCL Lumjingshai, State Central Library, and Urkaliar Field are also designated for parking.
The police have advised concert-goers to arrive early to avoid congestion and consider walking to the venue. Private vehicles should be avoided near the Polo area. Registered two-wheelers with event organisers will assist in pick-up and drop services.
Public gatherings or assembly around the stadium’s periphery have been discouraged by the police to ensure free movement for dignitaries and the artist. Emergency service vehicles will have unrestricted access during the event but heavy vehicles will be prohibited in the Polo area.
It may be mentioned that the highly anticipated concert is expected to draw music enthusiasts from across the region, making it a memorable evening in Shillong’s festive calendar.
