Jaipur, Dec 7:  Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday appreciated the work and role of the Border Security Force (BSF) in keeping the country’s frontiers and areas along them safe and secure.

Speaking to the media at Jodhpur Airport, the Union Minister praised the BSF for securing India’s border areas, describing these borders as safe and peaceful. He recalled that during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, the “one force, one border” system was introduced, entrusting BSF with the responsibility of securing both the Punjab and Bangladesh borders.

“Since its inception, the BSF has carried out remarkable work for the nation,” the Union Minister said. Gajendra Shekhawat also highlighted India’s robust defense systems across land, water, and air, crediting the BSF personnel for enabling the citizens of the country to sleep peacefully.

He expressed pride in the BSF troopers’ contributions, calling their service a blessing. The Union Minister further said Home Minister Amit Shah would be visiting Jodhpur for the BSF Raising Day celebrations.

HM Shah will embark on a two-day visit to Jodhpur, commencing Saturday, during which he will unveil the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel outside the Jodhpur Circuit House on Sunday.

The Home Minister is scheduled to arrive in Jodhpur at 9.30 p.m. on Saturday and stay overnight at the BSF Guest House. Subsequently, on Sunday, he is expected to attend the Raising Day parade at the STC BSF Training Centre.

Gajendra Shekhawat noted that such events, previously held exclusively in Delhi, are now being organised in different locations under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, talking about the programme held in Jaisalmer two years ago and now in Jodhpur.

Responding to a question about an article by him about the Constitution being shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X, Union Minister Shekhawat said: “The Constitution of India is more than a book; it is a living document that embodies the sentiments, faith, principles, and life of India.” He also expressed gratitude to PM Modi for sharing the article.
