NONGPOH, Dec 8: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Women’s Wing, organised a special outreach programme on Saturday, distributing blankets to over 60 underprivileged households in the Pynthor Sohma area under Raid Tynring, Ri-Bhoi.
The event also featured a communal meal as part of their Christmas celebrations and a warm welcome to the upcoming New Year.
Leading the initiative were Orianda Kharkongor, president of the HNYF Women’s Wing central body, and general secretary Phrinsibon Kharmuti, along with other members of the organisation.
During the event, the leaders highlighted that the distribution of blankets was a gesture of solidarity with economically weaker families, particularly during the harsh winter season.
They acknowledged the financial hardships faced by these families, who often struggle to afford necessities like warm clothing amidst rising household expenses.
While admitting that the contribution might be modest and insufficient to fully meet the community’s needs, the leaders hoped it would be received in the spirit of love and goodwill.
They also described the initiative as a heartfelt effort to extend support and stand with those in need.
