SHILLONG, Dec 19: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has collected Rs 38.22 crore revenue from various sources during the current financial year up to November.
Responding to a question by Opposition Leader Titosstarwell Chyne during the first day of the Council’s winter session here on Thursday, KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem said that the Council has yet to receive its share of royalties from motor vehicles from the state government.
He, however, noted that the government has recently informed the KHADC that the sanction for these royalties will be issued soon.
Syiem further revealed that the council received Rs 20 crore in June this year from its share of royalties on major minerals. However, the government has withheld Rs 4.57 crore from these royalties to fund the upcoming council elections.
“We are yet to receive any funds from the state government share of royalties from minor minerals. But we received official intimation from the government that it will release our dues very soon,” he said.
In terms of revenue from its own sources, Syiem informed that the Trade Department collected Rs 3.12 crore in license fees and applications, while Land Registration contributed Rs 47.30 lakh.
On the other hand, the Forest Department collected Rs 57.54 lakh, and the Civil Works Department added Rs 2.1 lakh.
Similarly, revenue from the Administration of Justice and Building Permission Fees stood at Rs 72.49 lakh, while Building Permission Fees brought in Rs 1.98 crore.
The Market Department, meanwhile, collected Rs 10.49 lakh, and toll collections amounted to Rs 13.40 lakh during the fiscal year.
