SHILLONG, Dec 19: Power Minister AT Mondal on Thursday said the state is now well positioned as far as availability of power is concerned and assured to ensure uninterrupted supply of power during the festive and examination season.
“We are in a good position as far as power supply is concerned. I held a review meeting recently to ensure that we do not have any power problem this festive season and I am happy to inform that we are very nicely positioned. There will be no disruption of power other than disruptions that may be caused by the damage of transformers and other natural causes,” Mondal said.
The minister said, “We are comfortable and we have kept buffer power stock as well. While I extend my warmest greetings to the people of Meghalaya, I would also like to request people that during the festive season we should use power judiciously. I don’t want any transformer to be overheated and blown off as that will unnecessarily create problems.”
“Our lookout will also be to ensure that the student community does not face any problems during the exam period and we are taking the required precautions. We do hope that unless any untoward incident happens we will be in a position to provide uninterrupted power supply,” he added.
