JOWAI, Dec 22: The Khimmusniang Dorbar Shnong, one of the prominent community councils in Jowai town, is set to conclude its Platinum Jubilee celebrations on December 28. Established in 1949, the village has been extensively preparing for this milestone, which will coincide with Christmas festivities and New Year celebrations.
Throughout 2024, the Dorbar Shnong has successfully organised a variety of events, including sports competitions, quiz contests, drawing and essay writing activities, as well as singing and dancing performances. These programmes have seen enthusiastic participation from villagers of all ages — elders, youth, and children alike — highlighting the community’s strong sense of unity and engagement.
The final day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations will feature a special event attended by notable figures, including Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi and the local MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla. Other distinguished personalities from the region are also expected to join the festivities.
