Seinraij Jowai hosts two-day Dorbar Niamtre

JOWAI, Dec 23: The Seinraij Jowai, through its Niamtre Committee, organised the Dorbar Ñiamtre on Saturday at the Ryngkaw Tpep-pale field in Jowai. The two-day event featured special programmes with active participation from various communities. Representatives from different villages, including Puramon Kynjing, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, waheh wasian (community leaders), and youth from Seiñraij Jowai, were in attendance.
On the second day, the event was chaired by Raymond Nartiang, Chairman of the NTC, and honoured by the presence of Mynown Chyrmang, Kñi Raij Jowai. The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by SK Lato, former president of Seinraij Jowai, while the welcome address was delivered by the current president, Hercules Toi.
Valentidio Paswet and Sangot Paswet, members of the Raij’s religious services team, shared stories about the history of Jowai village. The waheh wasian addressed several important topics during the event. Notable speakers included Nitanjan S Manner, vice president of Seiñraij Shangpung, who spoke on “The Importance of Religion and the Role of the Elderly”; Rangbah Aiban Swer from Seng Khasi Kmie, who discussed “Religious Practices, Customs, and the Protection of Cultural Heritage”; and Puramon Kynjing, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, who highlighted “The Role of Religion in Strengthening Community Identity.”
As part of the programme, the 2025 calendar (Almanac) of KKC Seinraij Jowai was officially released by EMH Passah, vice president of Seinraij Jowai. The event also recognised the elderly members of the Jowai community with tokens of appreciation from the Niamtre Committee.
The programme was further enriched by songs and dances performed by youth from various Seinraij groups. Deibha Rymbai, secretary of NTC Seinraij, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
The ceremony ended with Kongka Siangbood, Langdoh of Raij Jowai, lowering the flag and announcing that the Dorbar Niamtre of the 12 Dolloi-30 Syiem region for 2025 will be held at Raij Khonshnong in Laskein Block.
