One killed
On January 30 around 10.40 pm, while eight persons, Melansius Lyngdoh, Marshon Thongni (35), Shawker Singh (34), Tuberlin Wanniang (30), Shanborlang Jyrwa (28), Medolin Wanniang (40), Mersher Thongni (32) and) Watermi Lyngdoh were travelling in a Tata Sumo vehicle (ML-05J-2074), their vehicle was attacked by unidentified miscreants in three Maruti gypsies (number not known) at Kongong, NH-44 (EJH). The miscreants assaulted the passengers as a result of which Melansius Lyngdoh succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
Murder
On January 28, body of one minor boy Cheran B. Marak (7) was found buried on the river bank at Nongbalgre village (WGH). Deceased was reported missing from his residence at Bolbokgre village, since January 21, 2014.
Rape
A woman lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on January 30 at about 10 am an unidentified miscreant raped her daughter (22) at Khliehriat East.
Arrest
Police arrested Tyrseng Syiem (25), Pynkupbor Ryntathiang (24) and Lurshai Kharbteng (26 yrs) in connection with the assault and bid to kidnap Donbok Wahlang at Diengpasoh (EKH).
Theft
On the night of January 29, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-07A-9637) belonging to Dalsen Leckey A. Sangma, from Tura (WGH).
lEnwil Ch. Sangma lodged a complaint at Chokpot PS that on January 26 night, unknown miscreants broke into his wine store at Chokpot Bazar (SGH) and stole IMFL valued around Rs. 32,000.
Fraud
Sita Ram Das lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that on January 28 somebody fraudulently withdrew Rs. 20,000 from his account at SBI Main Branch, Shillong.
Threat
On January 25 around 5.30 pm, unidentified miscreants armed with pistols went to the Coal Monopoly counter of Jonseng Ch. Marak at Daluagre (WGH), demanded money and also threatened him with dire consequences.
