Others involve squeezing between walls so narrow, and some paths, while magical in the daytime, turn into spook-fests after dark when the only light comes from a far-off streetlamp.
Still, nothing beats the joy of appearing ten minutes early somewhere and watching friends huff and puff as they take the “main road.” Shillong shortcuts are not just paths; they’re proof that this hill town has its own secret code, one you can only crack by walking it.
