SHILLONG, Jan 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is officially the 10th richest chief minister in the country.
The data comes at a time when Meghalaya has been consistently ranked among the poorest states of the country.
A report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) claimed that Conrad Sangma has total assets worth Rs 14,06,83,315 while he also has liabilities of Rs 24,13,208.
According to the report, his self income is Rs 29,57,504.
Conrad’s close ally and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has bagged the ninth position with assets of more than Rs 17 crore while Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio is the fourth richest CM with an asset of Rs 46 crore.
As per the ADR report, Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is the richest chief minister in India with assets worth over Rs 931 crore.
Arunachal Pradesh’s Pema Khandu is the second richest chief minister with total assets worth over Rs 332 crore. Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah is third on the list with assets worth more than Rs 51 crore.
In contrast, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the least wealthy, with a net worth of Rs 15 lakh. Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah is the second poorest CM in the country with assets worth Rs 55 lakh. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan is the third poorest with Rs 1.18 crore.
The total assets of all chief ministers of India (31 in total) are worth Rs 1,630 crore.
