SHILLONG: New Friends Union (NFU) cruised to a relatively untroubled victory over Aurobindo CC, winning by seven wickets in their league match of the SCA Super Division Cricket League at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Saturday.
NFU won the toss and put Aurobindo into bat first.
The latter did not make full use of their overs and were bowled out for 154 in 34.3 overs. Ujjal Singh made 40 runs, while Biswajeet Das took3/29 in eight overs.
NFU needed to win with plenty of balls to spare if they wanted a chance to finish in second place from Group A, as they were behind Lawmali SCC on net run rate.
They certainly went out in the second innings determined and made 159/3 in just 20 overs, with Kamal Bhusal scoring 53 from 39 balls with five fours and three sixes.
However, final confirmation of the standings is still forthcoming.
In Sunday’s First Division match, Megha SC will play Young Guns at 9:00am.
