SHILLONG, Jan 4: The Dorbar ki Rangbah Kur, an assembly of clan elders, will take place on Tuesday in the Community Hall of the Dorbar Shnong, Mission Compound. According to a statement here, the gathering, convened by the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur: Ka Bri u Hynñiewtrep, commemorates the fifth anniversary of the apex clan institution.
In a statement, the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur publicity cell has requested that at least three leaders from every clan attend the assembly of clan elders.
“Given the presence of more than five thousand individual clans across the state, it is logistically impossible to send invitations to each clan,” the Synjuk stated.
The assembly aims to address critical and often contentious issues related to traditional customs, rights, privileges and community welfare, with the overarching goal of fostering unity among the clans.
The event will feature several prominent dignitaries, including KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem and JHADC CEM Thombor Shiwat. Also expected on the occasion are the Syiems of various regions, such as Dr. Balajied Sing Syiem of Hima Khyrim and Ainam Manik Syiem of Hima Mylliem, alongside other notable traditional leaders, including Lyngdohs, Sirdars and Wahadadars from different provinces.
A symposium on the theme ‘Tehsong ia ki Kur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep’ (The Communal Bond of All the Clans in Hynñiewtrep Land) will be a central feature of the event.
Moderated by Erwin K. Syiem Sutnga, the symposium will feature insightful deliberations by speakers Rapionglang Blah and R.S. Khardewsaw, with active participation from various units of the apex clan institution. The event will conclude with closing remarks by Raphael Warjri.
On the occasion, a special tribute will also be paid to the (L) Hisprechering Son Shylla, the founding president of the institution.
