SHILLONG, Jan 7: In two separate incidents, unidentified male bodies were discovered, prompting the policeto seek public help in identifying and claiming the deceased persons.
In the first case, a male body was found in the jungle area near Boucher Road, Shillong, on December 25, 2024. After conducting an inquest and post-mortem examination, the body was placed in the morgue at Civil Hospital, Shillong.
The deceased is estimated to be aged between 25 and 30 years, with a fair complexion, a round face, black hair, and a thin build. He stood approximately 5 feet tall.
In the second case, reported on January 4, 2025, the officer-in-charge of Saipung Police Station received information about another unidentified male body found near the footpath at the Saipung-Bamkhowsngi border. The deceased, believed to be a tribal man aged between 60 and 70 years, was reportedly seen loitering in the area before his death, which is suspected to have been caused by the extreme winter cold. An inquest and autopsy were conducted at Khliehriat Civil Hospital, where the body is currently kept for identification.
The deceased in the second case is described as having a swarthy complexion, an oval face, separated eyebrows, black hair, and a wide forehead. He stood approximately 5 feet tall and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue pants, a brown and blue tracksuit, and grey socks with blue stripes at the time of discovery.
Police have appealed to residents to approach Civil Hospital, Shillong, or Khliehriat Civil Hospital for further information or assistance.
