Shillong, Jan 12: The Congress has assured to take steps to implement a transparent recruitment system in the KHADC if they form the executive committee after the district council polls.
Talking to reporters on Sunday, MPCC working president PN Syiem said a proper recruitment policy is the need of the hour since the council lacks one at the moment.
“If we are able to form the EC we will revisit the existing service rules. This will be our main agenda,” Syiem said.
According to him, all the appointments in the council are done based on the approval of the Chief Executive Member (CEM).
Asked if the council will terminate the services of the 82 appointees as recommended by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report released recently, Syiem said they cannot make any such commitment.
“We will need to seek the views of the special legal counsel on whether these 82 appointments are legal or illegal before proceeding accordingly,” the former Deputy CEM said.
