Govt to issue notification for ADC polls on January 27

SHILLONG, Jan 12: The notification for the elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), slated on February 21, will be issued on January 27.
A government official told The Shillong Times on Sunday that the formal notification for calling the constituencies to elect their representatives will be issued on January 27.
The filing of nomination papers will start from January 27 and the last date for filing of nomination will be till 3 pm of February 4 to be followed by scrutiny of nomination papers after 3 pm, the official said. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed as February 5.
The official said the draft electoral rolls will be published on Monday and hearing of claim and objections will continue till January 24. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 27.
The two district councils will go to polls on February 21 while counting of votes will take place on February 24.
