SHILLONG, Jan 15: Ryndia silk stoles, handwoven in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, will be presented as gifts at the Republic Day celebrations in Singapore, showcasing the state’s traditional craftsmanship.
The Meghalayan Age Limited, a government agency, has facilitated the export of 300 Ryndia stoles as part of its efforts to promote local products internationally.
Taking to social media, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced that the stoles will be gifted at the Republic Day Reception hosted by the Indian High Commission in Singapore.
“This highlights the dedication and skill of our artisans and entrepreneurs, bringing global recognition to Meghalaya’s heritage,” he said.
Ryndia, crafted from eri silk, is produced through a sustainable process using natural dyes. The entire production process, from spinning to weaving, is carried out by local artisans, making it an integral part of Meghalaya’s cultural tradition.
