Guwahati, Jan. 17: Assam industries and commerce minister Bimal Borah took part in an investors’ meet in London on Friday and invited British investors to the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment and infrastructure summit to be held in Guwahati next month.

On his arrival in London on Thursday, Borah met British minister for Indo-Pacific, Catherine West at her office in the evening.

In the meeting, the Assam industry minister emphasised the initiatives undertaken by both the central and the state government to create a “Viksit Asom” that thrives as an economic powerhouse, fostering growth, innovation and opportunities for global partnerships.

In the interactive session, Borah highlighted the shared heritage between India and England and explored avenues to strengthen economic and cultural ties, with a particular focus on Assam’s potential as a trade and investment destination.

It may be noted that Borah had on Wednesday interacted with several business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs at a roadshow in Dubai as a precursor to the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit.

During the roadshow, the minister highlighted several infrastructure development initiatives taken in the state and projected Assam as an attractive tourist destination with rich natural resources and cultural heritage.

He summed up the road show by underscoring how Assam’s strategic location, investor-friendly policies and transformative infrastructure projects make it a prime destination for investors from Dubai to tap into its emerging markets and high-growth opportunities.
