SHILLONG: Tennydard M Marak, who had earlier challenged the ST status of Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, has shot off a memorandum, his second, to Governor Dr. KK Paul requesting him to remove the incumbent Chief Minister and invoke President’s Rule in the State in view of prima facie evidence that his mother Roshanara Begum was a Muslim by faith and not a Garo. Tennydard said that it would be inappropriate to allow the Chief Minister to continue in office any further simply because his continuance in office will prejudice the investigation, trial or any inquiry and there is apprehension that he might tamper with witnesses or documents.
The High Court of Meghalaya had, in October last year, dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Tennydard challenging the ST status of the Chief Minister.
