SHILLONG: The students from different schools from the city had a memorable experience while participating during the annual winter workshop conducted by the Avenues Academy.
At least 108 children coming from different schools of the city got an opportunity to learn something in a very different way.
The school children during the 11th Annual Winter Workshops in Personal Development and Effective Communication for Children and Young Adults on Friday admitted that it was new learning experience.
One Sammy Wanker from MPPS said that they could freely interact with the teachers in the institute even as they can freely share jokes which made learning interesting.
Wanker added, “What usually happens in school is all bookish information, here it was different we were given more of practical studies, which I feel is very important in building a better life.”
Pratyush Kashyap, a student of St. Edmunds School said that in schools teachers are very strict, which makes students think twice on how to interact.
“Avenues have helped us in building confidence, body language, soft skills and discipline, which in today’s date is the need of the hour.
One of the faculty member Fiedela M Taraing of avenues said that all the children are special and different, “One needs to understand. When they first joined they were not at ease but slowly they grooved into the tune.”
State sports and youth affairs, Zenith Sangma after giving away the certificates to the participants at the concluding day felt that it is a rare sought of education which avenues have imparted to the students.
“Training such different style of education is important,” Sangma felt adding “In Meghalaya we have a huge potential and we need to trace and track them for betterment.”
He also felt that in Meghalaya the people have a good sense of English, “There are no better industries and corporate houses the only strength we have is human resources and we need to make their maximum use.”
