Demand for JHADC chief’s arrest gets louder

‘Beneficiaries’ lodge complaint against Rymbai

JOWAI: A joint complaint was lodged by at least 11 people whose names appeared in the list of beneficiaries supposed to receive a share of the compensation money that is with JHADC chief Madonbai Rymbai as per the RTI findings. The complaint was lodged at the Jowai police station on Tuesday.

“The JHADC chief has misused our names and forged our signatures as recipients of grants as mentioned in the RTI reports,” the complaint stated.

The complainants included Coming Pyrtuh, who, as per the RTI finding has received Rs. 43.50 lakh. Mol Dkhar, Dre Dkhar, Tyrshain Pyrtuh, Hom Chyrmang, Chialty Kynndait, Rijoy Pyrtuh, Rinisha Kyndait, Sil Lyngdoh, Mera Khyriem and Phur Sana were the other complainants, all of whom met the officer in charge Jowai PS along with JSU president Rikut N Parien and JYF President, P. Majaw.

The copy of the RTI reports was also handed over along with the complaints.

West Jaintia HIlls Superintendent of Police, Herbert G Lyngdoh informed that the Deputy Superintendent of Police will conduct an inquiry into the case.

“Only after the enquiry, we will take action as per law”, the SP said. NGOs’ demand: Speaking to media persons here after lodging the FIR, NGO leaders– JSU and JYF presidents respectively– demanded immediate arrest of the JHADC chief for misappropriation of public money.

“When NGOs called for agitation programmes on genuine issues, they (police) hunted and arrested us irrespective of whether a complaint was lodged or not. In this case police have received a complaint against the JHADC chief, there should be no delay in his arrest,” JSU president, Rikut N Parien said.
