Steps taken to strengthen Forest offices

SHILLONG: Taking a strong note of the recent attack on Forest Beat house at Adokgre, North Garo Hills, the Forest Department has decided to strengthen forest offices to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
On February 6, armed miscreants entered the Forest Beat house at Adokgre assaulted one of the staff and forcibly took away three sal logs and four teak logs in a Tata DI vehicle (AS-01L-8349) towards Assam.
Later, the same miscreants abducted eight Forest personnel. However, on February 8, abducted Forest personnel were released.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsong said,” We would like to make sure that this kind of incident should not happen again and therefore we have decided to strengthen the Forest Offices.”
“The process has already started,” he said.
