Cops arrest five suspected drug users

Nongpoh, Feb 14: The Ri Bhoi police arrested five individuals during a raid of drug-related activities at Umshangling, Nongpoh on Tuesday.
According to the Additional Superintendent of Police Jason Mairom all the five suspects are local residents. While searching, syringes were recovered from them indicating their involvement in drug consumption.
Mairom informed that the arrested individuals have been sent for counselling in the presence of their family members, aiming to help them break free from drug addiction.
He encouraged other youths struggling with substance abuse to seek assistance from the One Stop Center near the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the Social Welfare Department, or directly approach the police for help.
At the same time, a stern warning has been issued to those involved in drug trafficking, stating that the police are closely monitoring their activities and will take stringent action against anyone found engaging in the illegal drug trade.
