FNR for high level reconciliation meet
Kohima: The ‘Forum for Naga Reconciliation’ (FNR) wished to express its deepest gratitude to all fellow Nagas for the support they extended to the Naga Reconciliation- A Journey of Common Hope and the Naga Reconciliation in the last 36 months, which made significant progress through solidarity and prayers.
In a release here on Wednesday ‘FNR convener’ Rev Dr Wati Aier said of late, the Naga Reconciliation process slowed down and reached a stalemate.
Nonetheless, the three signatories of the Covenant of Reconciliation– ‘NSCN-IM, NSCN (K) and Naga National Council (Federal Government of Nagaland)’ remained fully committed to the reconciliation process. (PTI)
EMFA appeals for restrain on Facebook comment
Guwahati: The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) on Wednesday appealed to the people not to target the field reporters and camera persons of a local news channel for its editor’s alleged derogatory remarks on an ethnic community in the Facebook.
“The reporters and camera persons should not be targeted personally as they are only performing their duties under the guidelines of their respective new channels”, EMFA President Nava Thakuria said in a press release.
The EMFA also urged the management of the media group to resolve the issue amicably at the earliest for the greater interest of journalism.
The Editor-in-chief of the channel had claimed that a fake account was created in his name where such remarks were made and he had already registered a case with the cyber crime STF in this connection.
The All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union and several other organisations took out a torchlight procession in Dibrugarh district last night demanding arrest of the editor and a CBI probe into his alleged remarks. (PTI)
Centre allocates funds to Nagaland
Kohima: The Central Government allocated an amount of Rs 1330.64 lakh to Nagaland under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network Systems (CCTNS) Project.
Official sources on Wednesday said under this project, Nagaland had so far utilised about Rs 112.72 lakh. The fund was for 51 police stations and 48 higher offices of police of Nagaland.
The CCTNS project was launched recently and under it 15015 police stations and 7000 higher offices, including circles, districts, sub-divisions, state headquarters throughout the country, had been proposed to be automated.
The objectives of the project include making the police functioning citizen friendly, transparent, accountable, effective and efficient by automating the processes and functions at the level of the police stations and other police offices at various levels.
It also aims towards improving the delivery of citizen-centric services through effective usage of information and communication technology. (UNI)
