Liquor smugglers held

SHILLONG: Two Indian Liquor smugglers were apprehended by BSF troops of Silbari border outpost in South Garo Hills while they were moving in a Tata 1109 vehicle bearing registration number AS-OFC-2090 near Silbari on Saturday.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Novo Kant Rabha (30), from Boko, Kamrup district of Assam and Asharani Koch (30) from Gasuapara in South Garo Hills.

During search, the BSF recovered 486 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 75,600 and Indian currency Rs 7,600.

During last week, the BSF troops on Meghalaya border also seized one Tata Sumo, one Tata 1109, 710 bottles of liquor, 563 bottles of phensydel, 35 cattle heads and other contraband items worth over Rs 24 lakh while they were being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.
