SHILLONG: The CSWO on Monday suspected the role of police in releasing the GNLA video which was in circulation a year ago to divert the attention from the demand of the pressure groups in taking action against police official TC Chacko for killing a 60-year-old labourer, Washington Marak.
Expressing shock over the circulation of the GNLA video, which shows a suspected GNLA cadre executing an unidentified victim, Kharshiing in a statement issued to the press on Monday said that the video was with the police a year ago.
The CSWO also pointed out the alleged role of police officers TC Chacko and GHP Raju behind the circulation of the video.
“This is a video alleged to have been found by the police after a raid. The seizure should have been brought out to the notice of the authorities and should also have been in the seizure list. This seems to be a diversion tactic as there is a demand for action against police officer Chacko for shooting in cold blood a 60 year old labourer, Washington Marak, and now the Government was given 20 days time to act against the police by the pressure groups”, Kharshiing said.
The National Human Rights Commission had asked the State Government to pay compensation to the victim and also to punish those involved.
The CSWO also demanded action against Tura SP Mukesh Singh for many cases of human rights violations. The pressure group also wanted the Government to verify the GNLA video and to come out with details.
The CSWO further asked all militants, who are serious in serving their people to come over ground and demand for talks to solve the problems so that peace can prevail in the State.
