4-yr-old girl raped, accused absconding
Ranchi, March 2: A four-year-old girl was raped in Swarn Jayanti Nagar under the jurisdiction of Sukhdev Nagar police station area of Ranchi. An FIR was registered on Sunday based on a complaint filed by the child’s mother, police officials said. According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday night when the girl was playing near her home while her mother was busy with household chores. A man from the neighbourhood allegedly lured her away and sexually assaulted her. The matter came to light when the girl returned home in distress. The child’s family members reached the accused’s house and beat him up. The police were informed about the incident, but the accused somehow managed to escape before the police arrived.
‘Over 50,000 people reunited with families at Maha Kumbh’
Mahakumbh Nagar, March 2: More than 50,000 people who were separated from their families amid the massive crowd of devotees at the 45-day Maha Kumbh were successfully reunited with their loved ones, the UP government said on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the government, during the Maha Kumbh Mela, more than 66 crore devotees from every corner of the country and abroad took a holy dip in the Ganga and Sangam. During this time, 54,357 people who were separated from their families were reunited. The number of women among those who got separated was higher. (PTI)
Pastor booked for sexual harassment
Kapurthala, March 2: A sexual harassment case has been registered against the pastor of a church in a village in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, police said on Sunday. In the complaint, a woman alleged that she and her parents have been visiting the church since October 2017. The pastor took her mobile number and started sending messages. She claimed that she was afraid of him and could not reveal it to her parents. From 2022, the pastor allegedly made her sit alone in a cabin in the church on Sundays and allegedly hugged and touched her inappropriately, the complainant told the police. (PTI)
Man booked for issuing triple talaq via WhatsApp
Kasaragod, March 2: A man was booked on Sunday for allegedly pronouncing triple talaq via WhatsApp to divorce his wife here, police said. The Hosdurg police have registered a case against Abdul Razak, a native of Nellikatta, near here. The case was filed after his wife approached the police alleging that she was divorced through a WhatsApp voice message on February 21. According to the complaint, Razak, who works in the Gulf, sent the talaq message from the UAE to the woman’s father’s WhatsApp number. (PTI)
