JOWAI, March 3: The Raij Jowai, through the Dorbar Niam, on Monday initiated preparations for the ‘Iung Langdoh’ as part of the rituals leading up to the Behdieñkhlam festival. This significant step was led by Dolloi, the chief of religious affairs, along with religious leaders and the Waheh Wasian of Seiñraij Jowai.
Before commencing the ‘Syrdep Phlang’ ritual, Dolloi of Jowai Elaka, Puramon Kynjin, alongside the Pator, Langdoh, Ki Sangot, Wasan, and Phra Kur–Phra Kmai, performed sacred rites, including the offering of traditional nguh (paddy and symbolic offerings).
In his address, Dolloi said that the ‘Syrdep Phlang’ at ‘Iung Langdoh’ is a deeply rooted traditional practice passed down through generations. He stated that the rituals performed at this sacred site follow the customs and religious instructions of the Raij, in accordance with the directions of the Trekirot.
He further explained that the ‘Syrdep Phlang’ serves as a spiritual medium, fostering fulfillment and joy among Raij members while ensuring the peace and prosperity of ‘Iung Langdoh’ as a sacred space.
Participation in the ‘Syrdep Phlang’ was also seen as a way to honour the Beipun Doh generation, which has played a crucial role in fulfilling religious obligations for the community’s well-being.
Dolloi highlighted that the conclusion of the religious rituals at ‘Iung Langdoh’ was not only for the benefit of the immediate community but extended to the entire Raij Shnong, reinforcing unity and spiritual welfare. He stressed the importance of preserving the sacredness of these rituals and ensuring they are passed down to future generations.
Finally, Dolloi reiterated that the completion of these religious rites at ‘Iung Langdoh’ was meant to bring blessings and benefits not just to the members of the religious community but to all members of Raij Shnong.
