25-year RI for POCSO convict

SHILLONG, March 5: A Special POCSO Court in East Khasi Hills has convicted one Shanlang Nongrum sentencing him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment under the POCSO Act.
The judgment, delivered by Special Judge (POCSO) MK Lyngdoh, found Nongrum guilty under Sections 5(k)(1)(n)/6 of the POCSO Act read with Section 506 of the IPC. Alongside the 25-year sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, with a default penalty of an additional six months in prison. He was also sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 506 of the IPC.
The case was investigated by Woman Police Sub-Inspector L Kharjana.
