London: England pacer Tim Bresnan reckoned that he has done his bit to secure his place in the side for the third Test starting next Wednesday at Edgbaston, but is on tenterhooks waiting to find out whether it has been enough.

Coming in as a replacement for injured pacer Chris Tremlett, Bresnan delivered a spectacular all-round performance in the Trent Bridge Test by scoring 90 runs and also claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in the second innings.

“I think I definitely grabbed my chance with both hands,” Bresnan was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. “And that is pretty much all I can do now.

The right-arm pacer stated that the decision to pick the squad for the next Test was out of his hands but it would not be an easy task for the selectors as well if Tremlett has fully recovered from a back spasm, as is expected.

“It is up to the selectors, the captain or whoever is going to make the decision to pick the side for the next game. It’s going to be a tough decision, someone is going to have to miss out and someone is going to be very disappointed, and I hope it isn’t me,” he said.

“It is a good position for English cricket really and I have said this all along, if you have got a stable of bowlers to choose from then it is going to give the selectors a headache and thankfully that is not my problem and I do not have to worry about that.” (UNI)
