Mawryngkneng football grounds upgrade soon, says minister

SHILLONG, March 11: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar Warjri on Tuesday assured that the survey and estimates for upgrading various football grounds in Mawryngkneng constituency will be completed at the earliest.
Replying to a question raised by Mawryngkneng VPP MLA Heavingstone Kharpran during the Assembly’s question hour on Tuesday, Warjri stated that the department is receiving thousands of proposals for sports infrastructure development across the state. “We need to study these proposals before conducting surveys and preparing estimates,” he said. Kharpran had inquired about the proposal for laying artificial turf, constructing fencing, and building a covered gallery at Madan Apkhaw, Sohryngkham Lulong, as well as similar upgrades at Sohryngkham Neng football ground.
Additionally, he sought updates on proposals for fencing and covered galleries at Mawdngong football ground, Sohryngkham Mawdieja, and Thadlyndit Sohryngkham Mawutieng football ground in Mawryngkneng.
