Arunachal to create strong Lokayukta: Tuki

Itanagar: In tune with Centre’s policy for responsive and transparent governance, the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to create a strong Lokayukta in the state. “My government has decided to table the Lokayukta Bill in the ensuing Budget session of the Assembly in March next,” Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said on Thursday during the 28th Statehood Day celebration here.
Highlighting various achievements of the state, Tuki said, “The state has moved from the nascent phase to one of the fastest growing ones in the country today. “Social sectors, human resource development, tourism and infrastructure development witnessed a quantum leap all these years while we made satisfactory progress in promoting agriculture and allied sectors in the state,” he said.
He said there have been a few unpleasant incidents in the recent past which had shaken the state and its people. “The whole world stood behind Arunachal Pradesh to protest the racial death of Nido Tania and the Congress Party in its recent meeting has unanimously resolved to demand an anti-racial law,” he said.
”There has also been unfortunate incident along the inter-state boundary recently. The state along with Assam government has drawn the attention of Union Home Ministry to find a lasting solution to the imbroglio, he said and appealed to people of both states to thwart attempt of divisive forces. Construction of Zilla Parishad office buildings began in all the 17 districts of the state with a sum of Rs one crore each is being taken up under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) Fund.  We provided vehicles to all the Zilla Parishad Chairpersons and fixed honorariums while financial powers up to 20 lakh to zila parishads, 7 lakh to anchal samities and 5 lakh to gram panchayats,” Tuki said
. He said, the government also created 768 posts of functionaries under Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhiyan ranging from 591 computer-cum-account assistant to Panchayat Technical Assistant (JE) 177 posts. In all 68 Gram Panchayat office buildings are being built with Rs 6 lakhs each under the above grant, he added.
“My Government has earmarked financial package of Rs 30 Crore for panchayats to be divided among 177 Zilla Parishad segments,” he said.
Announcing several sops Tuki said that slaughter house worth Rs.1359. 74 lakh had been sanctioned for Itanagar by the Centre while burial and cremation ground was being proposed for Itanagar for Rs. 10 crore as central grant.
“My government has raised Dearness Allowance of employees to 90 per cent making it at par with the central government employees besides enhancing the house building advance from 7 lakhs to 15 lakhs,” he said.
The chief minister also informed that the state government approved creation of separate Directorate of Medical Education in the Health and Family Welfare Department, filled up all posts of specialists and super-specialists and ensure posting of specialist doctors in all district hospitals.
“Prioritizing the education sector, the state government has proposed six model degree colleges and 10 new Polytechnics, while a new College of Agriculture has been set up in the Central Agriculture University (CAU) campus at Pasighat in East Siang district,” Tuki disclosed.
He said in order to ease traffic congestion in the Capital Complex, fly-overs and sky- walks have been sanctioned and being built in selected locations.
“The state government has allocated funds for construction of district and mini-secretariate besides converting existing bitumen roads to cement concrete ones in state capital, district headquarters and townships in a phased manner,” the chief minister said.
He said the government would set up CM’s Livelihood mission school one in each assembly constituency to impart skill to the unemployed youth. (PTI)
