FIR against army officer for sexual harassment

Shillong, March 13: An FIR has been filed against a senior army officer for allegedly sexually harassing the wife of a colonel during a function at the Officers’ Mess, here recently.
The victim filed a complaint against Brigadier Neelesh Anand, Commandant of the Assam Regiment Centre (ARC), Happy Valley, following which an FIR was registered at Madanrting police station on Monday.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Sunday evening during an official function at the Officers’ Mess.
It is alleged that the brigadier made inappropriate remarks, used abusive language, and attempted to intimidate the colonel’s wife despite her objections. The situation escalated when he allegedly charged towards her, but her husband intervened.
She also cited past incidents in April and July 2024, where the accused allegedly made inappropriate comments and attempted unwanted physical contact. Stating that she feels threatened and humiliated, the victim sought strict action against the officer.
