SHILLONG: When Congress leaders namely Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi stressing on empowerment of women, of the 29 Congress candidates who are fighting for JHADC polls, not one is a woman.
Congress in the last Assembly elections had fielded several women candidates. And most of the winning women candidates are in the state cabinet. But in the district council polls, Congress has not given due importance to women candidates.
