SHILLONG: It seems that the Administrator’s Rule (AR) would continue in the JHADC, as there are reports that the State Government has decided to go slow on the issue.

Even though the MPCC has recommended for lifting of the AR, official sources revealed that the Government is not totally convinced that the crisis within the party MDCs in the JHADC has been resolved.

Absence of 12 Congress MDCs during a recent meeting convened by the MPCC to elect the new Council leader is seen as one of the major reasons which has prompted the Government to continue the AR.

Hambertus Nongtdu was elected as the new leader at the meeting convened by MPCC president Friday Lyngdoh.

When inquired, District Council Affairs Minister HDR Lyngdoh asserted that the State Government was still examining the matter.

“The matter would soon be tabled before the Cabinet for its approval,” Lyngdoh added.

When asked if the delay in lifting the AR was due to continuous rumblings among the JHADC MDCs, the Minister refrained from making any direct comment, saying, “We want the crisis in the JHADC to end quickly.”
