Shillong, March 19: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Wednesday informed that the department has started to implement the newly launched CM Care+ scheme which will provide financial assistance specifically for high-end tertiary and critical care treatments and other treatments which are not covered in the MHIS packages.
The minister said the CM Care+ will fill the gaps beyond the MHIS-PMJAY coverage limit of Rs 5.30 lakh per policy year.
According to her, the new scheme will benefit the beneficiaries who require support for special treatment for cancer, kidney failure and heart problems which are not covered under MHIS. She added that the approval process for CM Care+ cases at 2 levels— district level for up to Rs 2 lakhs and state level for Rs 2-5 lakh. However, state and central government employees and their eligible dependents will not be able to avail of benefits under the scheme. All the cases shall be approved through the e-proposal system for which the Chief Minister’s Office will accord the necessary approval based on the recommendation of the committees at the district and state levels. The funds shall be provided directly to the institution providing treatment against the cost of treatment.
