Police to enforce speed limits on various roads

SHILLONG, March 24: Concerned about the increasing number of road accidents, many of which have been fatal, the State Government has directed the Police Department to enforce speed limits on various roads.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, told reporters on Monday that instructions have been given to the police to ensure that overspeeding is strictly regulated.
The department, which held a meeting with other concerned departments, also discussed accident-prone areas and possible corrective measures to reduce fatal accidents.
