Man gets 14-yr imprisonment for sexual assault of minor boy

SHILLONG, March 25: One Kluston Marbaniang has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment by the court of Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills. The conviction was made under Section 6 of the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy.
The accused was also found guilty under Section 506 of the IPC for threatening to kill the survivor if he disclosed the incident.
Marbaniang was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5,000 for this offense.
The incident occurred on December 27, 2015, when the accused lured the minor into a forest, tied him up and committed the sexual assault.
The victim’s brother Manikstar Ryntathiang of Marpna village reported the incident to the Sohiong Outpost the next day.
Inspector Phrianglin Syiem investigated the case, and the survivor underwent medical examinations at Sohiong CHC and Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong.
A charge sheet was filed against Marbaniang on January 30, 2017.
