SHILLONG, March 26: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to double the number of casual leave days for government employees from 15 to 30 per year.
Briefing the press, Cabinet Minister and MDA spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh stated that the existing arrangement was outdated, as it only allowed government employees 15 days of casual leave annually. “The Cabinet has decided to approve the proposal to increase it to 30 days,” he said.
Lyngdoh also announced that government employees participating in sports and athletic events will not have to take leave for those periods. Instead, their participation will be considered as official duty.
“This decision will also help the state meet various requirements, especially with the upcoming National Games,” he added.
