KHADC yet to decide on future of Monolith Festival, says CEM

SHILLONG, March 26: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Shemborlang Rynjah has informed that the Executive Committee (EC) will review whether the Monolith Festival, an annual event organised by the council, will continue in the future.
Responding to a question raised by NPP MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri during the Question Hour on the first day of the KHADC’s budget session on Wednesday, Rynjah said that no decision has been made regarding the festival as of now.
He, meanwhile, informed that the KHADC had appointed senior advocate TT Diengdoh as its standing counsel on December 12, 2021. The appointed counsel receives a monthly salary of Rs 12,250. He further assured that the EC would consider suggestions from some MDCs regarding the appointment of legal advisers.
Earlier, Executive Member (EM) in charge of Council Development, Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin, stated that the EC would examine a proposal to establish a council branch office in Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Responding to a question from UDP MDC EL Nongrang from Mairang during the Question Hour, Kharjahrin clarified that the KHADC currently has no plans to set up a branch office in the area.
