USTM programme provides hands-on training on spinal manual therapy

SHILLONG, March 29: The Department of Physiotherapy, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), successfully conducted a two-day hands-on training workshop on spinal manual therapy.
The programme, which culminated on Friday, aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of physiotherapy students and professionals, featuring Dr. Satyen Bhattacharya, Associate Professor at Burdwan Institute of Medical and Life Sciences, West Bengal, as the expert resource person.
The workshop was inaugurated by USTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. GD Sharma, who encouraged participants by highlighting the importance of hands-on training in manual therapy for improving patient outcomes.
On the other hand, Dr. Bhattacharya provided in-depth insights into various spinal manual therapy techniques, equipping participants with essential skills.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pooja Chaudhuri, HOD & Associate Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, USTM.
Following the inauguration, participants engaged in intensive hands-on training, focusing on assessment and application of different manual therapy approaches, including Maitland, Mulligan, and McKenzie techniques, which are crucial for spinal rehabilitation.
The workshop emphasised evidence-based practices, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of safe and effective treatment techniques. Interactive discussions and case study presentations further enriched the learning experience by integrating real-world clinical scenarios.
Over the course of two days, attendees gained practical exposure to spinal manual therapy techniques.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session and certificate distribution ceremony.
