KHADC passes Rs 34.44 cr vote on account for April-June

SHILLONG, March 29: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Friday passed a three-month vote on account amounting to Rs 34.44 crore for the period April to June 2025 on the final day of its budget session.
Executive Member in-charge of Finance, Seiborlang Warbah, had presented the vote on account on the first day of the session, effective from April 1 to June 30, 2025.
He stated that the allocation would enable departments to meet expenditure obligations, including salary disbursement for council members, the chairman, deputy chairman, leader of the opposition, executive members, officers and staff across various departments.
Of the total allocation, Rs 8.52 crore was earmarked for the General Administration Department, while the Law Department received Rs 17.65 lakh. The Revenue Budget & Finance Department was allocated Rs 2.65 crore, and the Forest Department received Rs 2.57 crore. Similarly, the Administration of Justice & Judicial Department was granted Rs 1.70 crore, whereas the Legislative Department was allotted Rs 2.27 crore.
On the other hand, the Education Department received Rs 3.87 lakh, the Civil Works & Development Department was assigned Rs 15.82 crore, and Rs 1.67 crore was allocated for the Enforcement Scheme for Protection of Tribal Land & Interest.
During the general discussion, Warbah assured the House that the Executive Committee (EC) would explore ways to enhance the KHADC’s revenue collection and implement measures to curb unnecessary expenditure.
He also assured that the concerns raised by members during the discussion would be addressed.
